Barack Obama : Words Vs Action ?
Last night, the Democratic candidate for Presidency, Senator Barack Obama was declared to be the winner. He is the 44th President of United States of America and also he is the first African-American to be elected as the US President.
Following are some of the quotes from his maiden speech after his victory in Chicago Park :
“We may not get there in one year or in one term, ..But we will get there.”
“Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other.”
“America, we have come so far, We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do.”
“.. our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared..”
Congratulations to the new Mr. President of America. Sir, we are expecting actions similar to your words.

What makes a Hero(ine)?
Thinking about what one wants and what he/she can, results in inaction.
If one stops thinking about the latter, they become - “HERO(INE)“.

Commitment Vs Compliance at Work
‘Work’ according to dictionary.com is an exertion or effort directed to produce or accomplish something. When we choose to do a work it is done with ‘Commitment’ and when we have to do the same work, it is done with Compliance. To do a work in compliance is to like working for someone’s goal with obedience.
However, to work with commitment is like working for one’s own goal with passion. The magic of the work with commitment is beyond words that it speaks it loud through it’s end outcome. It’s easy to make people to comply but it requires lot more for them to be committed.
People who work for you can either take charge or be obedient? How would you like them to be?

Have you boarded into your train?
Happened to see a television interview by Charles Correa, the contemporary architect from South India. Towards the end of the interview, the anchor asked Mr. Correa, his message to the young architects. Mr. Correa politely said the following,
Whenever you go to a Railway Station,
There is always a Train to leave the station.
Smartness lies in identifying the right train and
Greatness is in getting down in the next station, when it’s not yours.

A gist of all his wisdom. Really experience matters.
Have I boarded into my train or already in one ;~)??

Don’t go where the puck is, Go where it’s going to be
While reading a book, came across this nice quote by Wayne Gretzky, a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player.
“Don’t go where the puck is,
Go where it’s going to be” ~ Wayne Gretzky

A though provoking statement to ponder in depth. The masses alway go where the puck is and this differentiates the winners from the crowd. Proactive thinking always have an edge over the reactive thinking. Both are unique in their own dimensions. The grand successes of all the small experiments were attributed to this idea of betting on the future - a proactive move.
So get ready and be prepared to be proactive to succeed.

What made Indians to win the Twenty20 World Championship?
Yesterday it was a nerve-biting finish between India and Pakistan in their Twenty20 Championship’s first World Cup finals. After winning the one day world cup championship in 1983, this is the next major victory by the Indians in the game of cricket. It’s really a delight and fun to watch such an close match, especially if it is with Pakistan, it adds more spice to the game.
Now, let’s try to spot some of the key ingredients for this success.
1. After a long time, I think, this is the first time the BCCI had formed a new team based purely on merits.
2. Because of the above point, everyone in the team knew where they would be if they take their chance for granted, so no fault could be found from anyone.
3. The determination of the captain (MS Dhoni) to win till the last minute. Even after the six in the last over, there were no traces of dejection or acceptance of defeat.
4. Because of all the above 3 points, the Indians played as a TEAM.
Though the Pakistanese team played an excellent game of cricket, it was ultimately the pressure that made them to make some mistakes, which costed the World Cup. At the same time, one could not forget the commitment and energy levels of all New Indian Young Players.
Kudus to the new Indian Twenty20 Cricket team. All the best for their future successes.
